Listen to Thirty Seconds to Mars on iHeartRadio

Jared Leto says he's not sure why people are making such a fuss over Miley Cyrus' performance at this past weekend's Video Music Awards.

The Thirty Seconds to Mars frontman tells "Billboard" the annual MTV ceremony isn't the Kennedy Center Honors.  He argues that "it's supposed to be out there and wild and titillating."

But Leto adds that he finds it interesting just how shocked people were after Miley's show.  He says there are probably more shocking things that they could worry about, like the raves their kids are going to or the video games they're playing.

Leto got to see the Miley's infamous performance first-hand.  He was at the VMAs to introduce Kanye West, and also wound up winning a Moonman for Best Rock Video during the pre-show.
