A barber shop employee in Katy, Texas was shot by a customer Saturday afternoon after he became upset about his 13-year-old son's haircut, the Harris County Sheriff's Office said.

The employee, who was shot 3 times, is currently listed in stable condition.

The incident began after the suspect complained to the barber that his son's haircut wasn't done properly, Harris County Sheriff's Office Detective Wallace Wyatt told KPRC in Houston. After arguing with the barber, the suspect apparently decided to go home.

However, the man later returned to the barbershop located in suburban Houston and the barber agreed to try and fix the boy's haircut for free. The sheriff's office said an altercation broke out just before 5 p.m.

"It's one of the worst ones I've heard," Wyatt told the outlet of the shooting, "especially with your son being here witnessing what you're doing."

Police in Houston are on the lookout for the man, who is described as black, and may have fled in a gray four-door sedan, possibly a Honda Accord.
