BUCKINGHAM NICKS: Fences Have Been Mended
Former bandmates and lovers Stevie Nicks and Lindsey Buckingham are back on speaking terms. She broke the news on the new episode of the Song Exploder podcast, which examines the making of "Frozen Love," the only song they co-wrote on 1973's Buckingham Nicks album, and the one that Mick Fleetwood heard, which led him to hire them for Fleetwood Mac.
Interviewed separately for the podcast, she was asked about the first time she met Buckingham, saying, “Lindsey and I started talking about it last night. This whole thing seems really like yesterday to us.” That first meeting took place in 1966. And obviously they've been on speaking terms for a while given that the Buckingham Nicks album was re-released for the first time last month.
But it was a different story in 2018 when she told Mick Fleetwood she was quitting the band.
While Buckingham told the Los Angeles Times in 2021 that she wanted him fired from in order to "cut herself loose” from having to compete with him onstage," she countered, saying, "His version of events is factually inaccurate..."Following an exceedingly difficult time with Lindsey at MusiCares in New York, in 2018, I decided for myself that I was no longer willing to work with him. I could publicly reflect on the many reasons why, and perhaps I will do that someday in a memoir but suffice it to say we could start in 1968 and work up to 2018 with a litany of very precise reasons why I will not work with him. "To be exceedingly clear, I did not have him fired, I did not ask for him to be fired, I did not demand he be fired. Frankly, I fired myself. I proactively removed myself from the band and a situation I considered to be toxic to my well-being. I was done. If the band went on without me, so be it..."
Buckingham denied making her sad, saying, "You could do a whole analysis on Stevie at this point in her life and what she's allowed to happen and what she's allowed to slip away from her. "Her creativity, at least for a while it seemed like she wasn't in touch with that. Same with the level of energy she once had on stage. I think that was hard for her, seeing me jump around in an age-inappropriate way. "Also, she's lonely. She's alone. She has the people who work for her, and I'm sure she has friends, but you know."
Fleetwood Mac manager Irving Azoff, who fired Buckingham and who Buckingham said "threw him under the bus," and who is "still driven by the money,” backed up Stevie. He said, “I have historically declined comment on artists, but in the case of Lindsey Buckingham, I will make an exception. “In speaking with Stevie, her account of events are factual and truthful. While I understand it’s challenging for Lindsey to accept his own role in these matters and far easier to blame a manager, the fact remains that his actions alone are responsible for what transpired..."Fleetwood Mac soldiered on for one last tour with Mike Campbell from Tom Petty's Heartbreakers, and Neil Finn from Crowded House both taking Buckingham's place.
While Mick Fleetwood hopes the band could reunite one last time, Stevie has made it clear that the band died when Christine McVie died in 2022.
SOUNDGARDEN: Need a Woman's Touch
We now know the role Brandi Carlile will play at the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony on November 8th in Los Angeles. She told Howard Stern she'll be singing "Black Hole Sun" in tribute to Soundgarden, who, it appears, will be inducted by actor Jim Carrey.
While Brandi adds that she would have preferred to do "Searching With My Good Eye Closed" off their third album, Badmotorfinger, she's no stranger to "Black Hole Sun," having done it at the Los Angeles tribute to Chris Cornell in 2019. And that only came about because Axl Rose, who was supposed to sing it, didn't show up. Also performing with the surviving members of Soundgarden at the ceremony will be Pearl Jam guitarist Mike McCready, Alice in Chains
singer-guitarist Jerry Cantrell, and The Pretty Reckless singer Taylor Momsen. Chris Cornell died by suicide in 2017.
More Performers And Presenters For The Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame Ceremony Announced
The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame has announced yet another wave of big names who will serve as performers and presenters for the upcoming 2025 Hall induction ceremony. Per usual, they're not saying who does what, but the new names include both musicians and non-musicians. Chappell Roan, Jim Carrey, Janelle Monáe, Avril Lavigne, Bryan Adams, Donald Glover, En Vogue, Feist, Gina Schock, Hurby Luv Bug Azor, Jerry Cantrell, Joe Perry, The Killers, Lisa Coleman, Mick Fleetwood, Mike McCready, Nancy Wilson, Nathaniel Rateliff and Tedeschi Trucks Band will all be on hand for the big night.
This year's ceremony will welcome Bad Company, Chubby Checker, the late Joe Cocker, Cyndi Lauper, Outkast, Soundgarden and the White Stripes into the Hall, while Salt-N-Pepa and Warren Zevon will receive the Musical Influence Award. The 40th Annual Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony takes place on Saturday, November 8th at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles, and will stream live on Disney+ at 8PM Eastern.
BAD COMPANY: Rock 'n' Roll Hall of Fame Fantasy
No great surprise -- Bad Company will perform at their induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame on November 8th in Los Angeles. Drummer Simon Kirke tells Lyndsanity! With Lyndsey Parker that he and Paul Rodgers will do two songs. He says, "I'm not at liberty to say which songs. I mean, quite honestly, I don't give a [crap]. We're gonna play, and whatever Paul chooses is fine by me. And just to play with him again is gonna be a real thrill for me, 'cause I missed him. I missed playing with the band. I miss playing particularly with Paul, 'cause he's such a wonderful singer."
When it was announced in April that Bad Company were elected for induction, Kirke told us he and Rodgers briefly discussed performing at the ceremony, and suggested that they do "Can't Get Enough," their first single, which was written by their now late guitarist Mick Ralphs. Kirke quickly recanted due to the uncertainty of Rodgers being able to perform due to some health issues. Bassist Boz Burrell died from a heart attack in 2006. One of the two songs is "Rock ‘n’ Roll Fantasy," and it will probably be a rock 'n' roll fantasy since both Joe Perry and Nancy Wilson have been added to the list of performers -- likely with one or both filling in for Ralphs.
Bad Company will be inducted by Mick Fleetwood and joining them in the Class of 2025 are Joe Cocker, Warren Zevon, Chubby Checker, Cyndi Lauper, Outkast, Soundgarden, The White Stripes, Salt-N-Pepa, Nicky Hopkins and Carol Kaye.
Simon Kirke was recently back in his native England for a tribute to Mick Ralphs. "We had a farewell memorial bash at his favorite pub, just outside Henley in England," says Kirke. "It's called the Crooked Billet... There were about 70 or 80 friends, old road crew, wives, ex-wives, [Bad Co. bassist] Boz Burrell’s widow, just a whole bunch of friends. We had a dinner and I played seven or eight Bad Company songs, and then Zak Starkey played drums on a bunch of Mott the Hoople songs. It was a lovely night. I'm so glad I went over." Ralphs left Mott to form Bad Company. Ralphs wasn't the only local resident who played and hung at the Billet. It was also George Harrison's local hangout where in 1990 he joined Gary Moore onstage there and were told to stop playing due to complaints about the volume. Mick Ralphs died this past June 23rd from cancer and complications related to a stroke he had in 2016. He was 81.

HARDY kicks off the album with a reimagination of "Ready for Love." WEEZER: Another Band Freese Has Rejoined
Weezer will have an old friend behind the drum kit on their South American tour that starts Sunday in Brazil -- Josh Freese. The ex-Foo Fighters drummer and current Nine Inch Nails
player revealed that he'll be playing with Weezer on the trek that runs through November 16th in Mexico City. This isn't Freese's first time behind the kit for Weezer. He was their touring drummer from 2007 to 2012 as Patrick Wilson stepped out from behind the kit to play guitar and to allow Rivers Cuomo to have a break from playing guitar on every song.
BEATLES: Behind Two of the Four Films
Ringo Starr is featured on the latest episode of the syndicated ABC TV show On the Red Carpet, and one of the things he discussed are the four films director Sam Mendes is making on the Beatles. While we know that Ringo went over and edited the script with Mendes, what we didn't know is that he also invited to his house in Beverly Hills actor Barry Keoghan, who will portray him, and he offered him some advice. "I did tell him, ‘I know you’re having drum lessons, but don’t have too many 'cause then you become the machine, where you need to come through.'"
Mendes also reached out to John Lennon's first son, Julian, who tells Rolling Stone, "Normally I’m kept out of all the Apple and Beatles stuff. [My stepbrother] Sean and I have a great relationship, but he can’t even talk to me about that stuff legally, which is a little uncomfortable, because he wants to tell me stuff, but he can’t. But he got in touch and said, 'Listen, Sam Mendes wants to get in touch.' I went, 'Really? Why?' I hadn’t even heard of the four new Beatles films. And initially, I just thought to myself, 'You’ve got to be kidding me. Another freaking Beatles film? Haven’t we had enough?' [Laughs]... "Sam and I met earlier this year and had lunch... He said, 'Listen, I wondered if you had any quirky or kooky stories or memories you might have had.' I said, 'There are things I remember, but there’s no real clarity on that stuff. I was three or four years old.' Then he said, 'The most important thing for me, Jules, is that I want to make sure that your story and your mother’s [Cynthia] story are told with absolute clarity and truth, whatever that means.' And I just said, 'I truly appreciate that.' I thought the idea of this was bonkers from the get-go, but then I fell in love with it, and now I’m more intrigued than anything else to see how he’s going to deliver on this. It inspires me to believe that Mum, more than anybody, will be seen in a good light. She has always been seen as very gracious and very honorable, so I just hope that comes across...
"Sean has asked me to read the script with him as well to see if anything rubs us not the wrong way, because, again, from Sam’s perspective, he wants this to be the truth as best it can be told. I’ll be certainly intrigued to have that chance to read it when I get the opportunity. I just hope it shines a light on everything and everyone. It would be nice if it’s a good thing." Harris Dickinson will portray John Lennon, and the four films are scheduled to open in theaters in April 2028.

BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN: Don't Deliver Him Mustard
Following up on Rolling Stone's report that Scott Cooper, the director of Springsteen: Deliver Me From Nowhere, got "all the big things right, and only cheated around the margins" when it came to the film's accuracy, comes this eagle eye report on X from Bruce Springsteen fan @GenZBruceFan. The post reads, "In Deliver Me from Nowhere, Bruce Springsteen says his favorite hotdog condiment is mustard, but in real life, Bruce Springsteen HATES mustard so much he did a whole yap about it during a show." That show was in the early '80s and a clip accompanies the post. "Don’t give me no Grey Poupon! I don’t like any mustard! I don’t like it on my hot dog. I don’t like it on my sandwiches, no. So I would have ham, cheese, lettuce, a lot of mayonnaise on white bread.”
The scene in the movie where he said he liked mustard was when he was having a conversation with the young daughter of his girlfriend, "Faye Romano." And that was the other part of the movie what was factually inaccurate as Faye is a "composite character based on several girlfriends Springsteen had during that period." And as of 2020, Springsteen's tastes didn't change as he was photographed at Max’s Bar & Grill in Long Branch, New Jersey enjoying a dog with nothing on it. WARNING!!! This video contains an expletive!!!
FAITH NO MORE: No More "Epic" Reunions It Seems
Faith No More fans hoping for the band to get back together are going to have to deal with some major disappointment. Back in the spring drummer Mike Bordin said that singer Mike Patton was the one holding up the band doing any more shows. Faith No More canceled a bunch of shows in 2021, citing Patton's mental health. Now keyboardist Roddy Bottum told
Alternative Nation, "I don’t think anyone’s sort of up for it at this point. We had a bunch of shows that we were gonna play, and they got canceled, just for various reasons. But I don’t think the course that we were on has fixed itself. I just don’t see it happening again, honestly. I think we did a really good job. We played a bunch of reunion tours, and I think we did what we kind of set out to do." He added, "So I don’t think anyone’s upset about it or anything...getting back together would mean a big paycheck, but I think all of us are pretty good with what we did, sort of just like, artistically with the band and committing to ourselves and playing with each other. I think we’re all pretty good with the decisions that we’ve made up to now, and I don’t see what could really happen more getting back together and doing more shows."
Faith No More’s last show was August 20th, 2016 at the Troubadour in Los Angeles.

Rod Stewart was named an Honorary Guest of the City of Buenos Aires following his three shows there last week in recognition of his extraordinary contributions to global music and culture. Stewart said, “I’ve been fortunate to perform all over the world, but I have never received an honor like this before. Buenos Aires, you’ve truly made me feel at home. These three nights have been unforgettable – the passion, the energy, the voices. This is one of the best audiences I’ve ever had. From the bottom of my heart, thank you. And of course, it’s always a thrill to be in the country that gave us [soccer greats Lionel] Messi and [Diego] Maradona.” In case you don’t know, Stewart is a huge soccer fan.
Comedian and actor Jim Carrey, The Killers, Feist and Avril Lavigne have been added to the list of presenters and performers for the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame’s Induction Ceremony on November 8th in Los Angeles. It appears that Carrey will induct Soundgarden. Previously announced presenters and performers include Elton John; Nancy Wilson and Joe Perry who will both reportedly perform with Bad Company; Mick Fleetwood who will induct Bad Company; and Iggy Pop who will induct The White Stripes; and Alice in Chains guitarist Jerry Cantrell, Pearl Jam guitarist Mike McCready, and Brandi Carlile who will all perform with Soundgarden. The rest of the Rock Hall's Class of 2025 includes Chubby Checker, Joe Cocker, Cyndi Lauper, who will be inducted by Chappell Roan, Outkast, Salt-N-Pepa, Warren Zevon, who will be inducted by David Letterman, Nicky Hopkins and Carol Kaye.
Another UK TV documentary on David Bowie is in production. Tentatively titled David Bowie: The Final Act, it will focus on his last decade. It’s being directed by Jonathan Stiasny, who says, “The traditional music documentary celebrates triumph. What fascinated me most when making this film was how Bowie’s final chapter wasn’t an ending, it was a resurrection. He transformed failure into triumph, silence into revelation, and ultimately, death into art.” The BBC is also working on one tentatively titled Bowie in Berlin to mark the 50th anniversary of his time there where he cut three albums -- Low, Heroes and Lodger — also known as his Berlin
trilogy.
Def Leppard bassist Rick Savage is the final member of the band to discuss his most memorable moment in the group in a post on Instagram. He has two – one was being caught “in a compromising position in the corridor of a tour bus with Bryan Adams actually laying on top of me trying to fix a very painful back ailment that I had.” And the second was in 1980 at the Veterans Memorial Coliseum in Portland, Oregon while playing “Rock Brigade.” “It’s the very first time we’ve seen cigarette lighters aloft to such a degree. There were 11,000 people in the [Coliseum]. It was just such a fantastic sight and I swear to God, at least 90% of them held their cigarette lighters up in the air and it’s the first time I’ve ever really experienced that. It was just incredible.”
