Even though Dale Earnhardt Jr. is officially retired from full-time racing, he’s certainly not disappearing.
The NASCAR driver will be on TV every weekend for the second half of the 2018 season in NBC’s broadcast booth. Earnhardt has said he’s interested in exploring a variety of TV opportunities with this career move – perhaps with the Winter Olympics or the NFL – but Dancing with the Stars is not in there.
A vague report from Hollywood Life claims Earnhardt and Colin Kaepernick are among the top options for the next season of DWTS,
The retired driver is adventurous and doesn’t usually take himself too seriously, but joining the cast of the dancing show doesn’t seem probable. DWTS is also on ABC, so it also seems unlikely that he’d be on a show for another network.
But if he did, he certainly wouldn’t be the first race car driver to try it. Responding to Earnhardt’s tweet, fans cited Michael Waltrip and IndyCar’s Hélio Castroneves and James Hinchcliffe – who have been previous contestants – as examples he could follow.
