Men Are 'Zapping' Their Junk to Help With Their Erectile Dysfunction

| POSTED IN: SEX | SOURCE

Earlier in the year we told you about a study that suggest that drinking two cups of coffee a day keeps erectile dysfunction at bay. But if you’re not a fan of drinking a batch of caffeine, would getting shocked in your junk be more of an interest?

According to NY Post, there’s a new procedure called GainsWave, which pretty much involves zapping thousands upon thousands of sound waves through a man’s penis in order to improve blood flow and help them out with their lack of erection issues. And apparently this is becoming a big deal.

The therapy is available in a handful of practices in New York City and several more nationwide. Its proponents say the sound wave pulses cause new blood vessels and nerve tissue to grow within the penis, enabling better blood flow and possibly improving tissue sensitivity. The Food and Drug Administration has yet to clear GainsWave for use in erectile dysfunction treatment, though it has approved the technology for other types of rehabilitation, such as plantar fasciitis and lateral epicondylitis of the elbow.

Though early clinical studies have found the treatment to be safe and have seen some success, Dr. Michael Reitano says larger and longer-term patient studies and trials are still needed to ensure its efficacy. Even then, it’s probably at best an alternative option for the 10 percent of men who had no luck with the little blue pill, Reitano says.

If you want to get shocked in your junk, it isn’t covered by insurance, and it’s going to cost you about $3,000. It will also require you to have one session, once a week for six to 12 weeks. And if you’re into that, well then maybe this is for you. But hey, anything to help you downstairs.

According to Dr. Kate Kass, a Washington state-based functional medicine physician, “75 to 80 percent of her patients experience success with the GainsWave therapy. Some go off meds like Viagra entirely, or use them far less.”

Let us know if you’ve decided to embrace the zap.
